Which Employees Can Benefit Most from Virtual Meetings

At most companies, managers and staff members alike have a series of responsibilities they must successfully complete in order for a business to run at an optimal level. Failure to fulfill such duties in a diligent, professional manner can cause a huge ripple effect down the line.

What has helped professional teams – from top to bottom – is the growing acceptance and usage of virtual meeting solutions. Such an office tool has made it possible for (theoretically) everyone at a company to connect with one another to catch up on projects, seek assistance, or to take part in team-wide brainstorming sessions.

While it can be argued that everyone within an office would benefit the same from using a reputable video conferencing solution, the reality is there is a specific group of team members who would benefit most.

Let’s take a look at which employees can benefit most from virtual meetings:

CEOs

Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) are very busy. As the captain of the ship, they are responsible for making high-level decisions that will have a lasting impact on the company they run.

In order to successfully do this, a CEO needs to regularly meet with their management team to ensure priorities are not just being focused upon, but also executed. One way to make these conversations easier and more productive, is by having a team video call.

Having the CEO in a room with those they’ve tasked with keeping a large chunk of the staff on track, allows for better direction and communication to be had. Online meetings, especially those with a strong video component, helps managers and executives better determine a company’s path forward.

Conversely, management phone calls and emails can lead to a broken chain of communication that results in more confusion than action.

Human Resources Professionals 

Human Resources (HR) professionals are meant to deal with employee and management matters of varying significance. In some cases, members of the HR team need to deal with employee complaints, the interview process, onboarding new staff, firings/layoffs, etc.

In a lot of instances, these conversations – if unable to happen in the same room – should be done face-to-face during a virtual meeting.

The cases mentioned above often involve delicate, but tactful conversation. These types of conversations/interactions need to have as big of a human element as possible, in order for the parties involved to have a meaningful dialogue.

Full-Time Staff

No matter the nature of their job, full-time staff members need to have a live online video chat with their team every so often. Keeping such a routine helps everyone understand the status of a current project, as well as ones that may be coming up next. 

What’s more, these online staff meetings allow staff – and managers – the ability to collaborate in an interactive environment in which everyone can offer a point of view.

At the very least, a great video conference routine will make it easy for full-time staff to stay united and accountable to one another, regardless of whether an employee works remotely or from the office.

Interns

A lot of the time, interns need to be highly flexible and willing to juggle multiple assignments at once. This, unfortunately, can cause them lots of stress and confusion with regards to what should be handled when.

For interns, having frequent team meetings on an online meeting platform can settle their nerves and help them better understand companywide priorities. What’s more, this makes it possible for interns to showcase their skills in front of staff and managerial types they may not have regular access to.
